1. Introduction

At Octal Works, accessible from our website, one of our main priorities is the privacy of our visitors. This Privacy Policy document contains types of information that is collected and recorded by Octal Works and how we use it. If you have additional questions or require more information about our Privacy Policy, do not hesitate to contact us.

2. Client-Side Processing Architecture

Unlike traditional web services, Octal Works is built on a "local-first" architecture. All numerical conversions, string encodings (Base64), and data analysis tools are executed entirely within your browser's JavaScript engine.

  • No Data Transmission: The values you input into our tools are never sent to our servers.
  • No Server-Side Logs: We do not log the content of your calculations or conversions.
  • Instant Privacy: Your data exists only in your computer's RAM while the tab is open.

3. Information We Collect

The only personal information we might receive is the information you choose to provide if you contact us directly. This may include:

  • Your name and email address.
  • The contents of any messages or attachments you send us.
  • Any other information you may choose to provide.

4. Log Files

Octal Works follows a standard procedure of using log files. These files log visitors when they visit websites. All hosting companies do this as part of hosting services' analytics. The information collected by log files includes internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser type, Internet Service Provider (ISP), date and time stamp, referring/exit pages, and possibly the number of clicks. These are not linked to any information that is personally identifiable. The purpose of the information is for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movement on the website, and gathering demographic information.

5. Cookies and Web Beacons

Like any other website, Octal Works uses "cookies" very sparingly. These cookies are used to store information including visitors' preferences, and the pages on the website that the visitor accessed or visited. The information is used to optimize the users' experience by customizing our web page content based on visitors' browser type and/or other information.

6. Security of Data

The security of your data is important to us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your Personal Information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. However, by processing all conversion data locally, we significantly reduce the "attack surface" for your sensitive data.

7. GDPR and CCPA Compliance

We want to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

  • The right to access – You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
  • The right to rectification – You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate.
  • The right to erasure – You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to data portability – You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

8. Children's Information

Another part of our priority is adding protection for children while using the internet. We encourage parents and guardians to observe, participate in, and/or monitor and guide their online activity. Octal Works does not knowingly collect any Personal Identifiable Information from children under the age of 13.
